The Walls & Ceilings team of H.J. Martin and Son is in the midst of a major project at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay. Partnering with Prevea Health, the hospital is modernizing its orthopedic center as well as the pre- and post-op areas of its outpatient-surgery unit.
The $15.8 million project began this past January, with completion expected in October 2014. The new center will allow for more efficient operations and better patient care, according to Prevea officials.
“Healthcare-facility work is one of the specialties of the Walls & Ceilings division,” says Joel Johnson, who oversees the unit for H.J. Martin. “We have the experience to meet all infection-control criteria, along with minimization of dust and noise.”
The 22,500-square foot Prevea Regional Orthopedic Center will be located on the second floor of St. Mary’s Hospital, just inside the hospital’s main entrance. Beyond its ease of access, the center will feature eight sub-specialties and offer comprehensive care – exam rooms, x-rays, labs and radiology – in one location.
Adjacent to the orthopedic center will be the remodeled St. Mary’s One Day Service center, a 10,000-square foot outpatient surgery unit. Upon completion, it will include 26 rooms for pre- and post-op patients with private changing rooms and bathrooms.
“We appreciate the opportunity given to us by St. Mary’s and Prevea to work on this project,” says H.J. Martin Project Manager Jay Hussong, who is overseeing the project.
At a later point in the project, the H.J. Martin commercial flooring team will begin work at St. Mary’s.
