Life Time Fitness is a full-service athletic facility with more than 135 locations in nearly 40 major markets across the United States and Canada. Its comprehensive programs include personal and small-group training, along with all types of fitness classes, for clients of all ages. Life Time also provides complementary services like a café, spa and chiropractic.

H.J. Martin and Son completed work in seven new Life Time locations: three in Boston, one in North Carolina and three in California. Performing high-end work with top-line finishes, six weeks was the average time spent at each site.

Millwork & casework installation encompassed a wide variety of areas within individual Life Time locations. These included locker-room facilities, equipped with wooden lockers; reception and lounge areas; workout rooms; the business office; trainer offices; the spa and salon; and the bistro.

Ornate accents were added through the installation of trim in the spinning room, column wraps in main areas, ballet bars and handrails.

Multiple challenges were overcome in the completion of work at Life Time locations. Phased installations were utilized to work around other on-site tradesmen. Such an arrangement makes it more difficult to meet the prescribed schedule, but in each instance H.J. Martin and Son did so.

Another obstacle successfully met was the manner in which materials arrived at each Life Time location. Seven 53-foot truckloads, packed floor to ceiling, was the typical shipment.

There were no loading docks available, nothing was on pallets and forklifts could not be utilized due to odd-shaped items making up the cargo load. The trucks were unloaded by hand efficiently to minimize time spent on what was an under-the-radar, large portion of the job.
