Kevin Shepardson joins H.J. Martin as Safety Coordinator

Military veteran ensures job-site safety at new Marquette (Mich.) General Hospital
Green Bay, Wis. – Kevin Shepardson, a military veteran, has joined H.J. Martin and Son as Safety Coordinator. He initially is working on site at the new Marquette (Mich.) General Hospital, the largest drywall project in company history with up to 120 employees working at any one time.
In his position of Safety Coordinator, Shepardson is responsible for ensuring the safety of the workplace at the job site of the replacement hospital, along with adherence to the environmental health and safety guidelines of general contractor Skanska Closner. He coordinates, implements and administers comprehensive training programs in occupational, industrial and environmental safety.
Shepardson works closely with H.J. Martin and Son Project Manager Craig Nero and On-Site Superintendent Brandon Pecho to develop and maintain the mandatory construction work plan of Skanska Closner.
Additionally, he manages on-site safety awareness, conducts health and safety inspections on a daily basis, conducts safety orientation with all new hires, ensures that all on-site employees have the proper certifications, performs accident/incident investigations, and maintains documentation and records.
Upon completion of the Marquette hospital project in 2018, Shepardson’s safety knowledge and experience will be utilized on other projects of H.J. Martin and Son.
Shepardson previously served in the United States Army, where he was assigned as a Special Operations Engineer Sergeant. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in interdisciplinary studies, with a minor in business.
